This is a top quality bench--very strong and sturdy. Definitely gym quality! I am 5'10 and noticed that the lower bar catch was too low and the upper bar catch was a bit high and also too close to the top post for comfort. I have worked out at a lot of gyms and rarely, if ever, felt like the bar was too high, but this one did feel a bit high. To address all issues I spent about 20 minutes and drilled a new set of holes for the bar catches about 1 inch lower than the pre-drilled holes. I feel like the bar catches are now at a perfect height and I feel a lot better about the extra clearance on the back post when you are going to re-rack your bar. despite the modification I had to make, I would buy this product again in a second. It is the best bench out there at this price point and the modification didn't cost me a dollar.

The bench is solid and sturdy. The positioning of the upper and lower barbell holders are somewhat oddly positioned in that the top holders are too high for me to use alone. The bottom ones are perfect but it means that if I go to failure I have to either get it up or have the safety stabilizers high enough to prevent injury. Overall it’s a great Piece of equipment, but if I did it again I’d spring from the BF-60

The bench is study’s and I like the look along with the self spotter since I lift by myself, but dislike the heights of the strike plate. The heaight is ok for normal to heavy lifting but makes it hard for maxing out. The top of the striking plate is about a 1/2 inch too high and makes it extremely hard to lift max weight off due to my arms are almost fully extended and the bottom is just too low and takes too much energy also on max lifts, otherwise I love the product.

Ask a Question
  • What the measurement from the bench to the top of the support rack. So while lying down and extending your arms what would be the highest support height of the bench for clearance?

The BF-48 measures from the bench to the lowest catch at 12.5", from the pad to the middle catch at 18.5", and from the pad to the top catch at 24.5".
