Incredible value. Can hold a lot of weight while taking up very little space. Very stable at high weights too.

These are perfect for a home gym that doesn’t have unlimited space. Very easy to move the stands around, as they are not heavy. They are excellent build quality. Very easy to adjust to smaller size for storage. I squat with around 250 lbs and they handle the load easily. As one reviewer said, do not expect to slam the weight into them when finished and not expect some sway. However, I am not sure who would not expect something like that from stands with a relatively small footprint. I highly recommend. 5 stars.

In March of 2020 we went into lockdown and I had a feeling gyms would not open for a long time. There were virtually no racks or stands available anywhere in the country, but I found these at Valor. Best feature -because the stands are independent, they are easy to move, for example, to a bench for a press or into open space for a squat or overhead press, and theyre easy to store if you have limited space. Its also easy to adjust the height.Im in my late 60s - Im squatting around 200 and benching 150, and for weight like that, these are quite serviceable. Downside is that one can not walk a heavy barbell into the rack at the end of a squat set like at the gym, nor can you simply move the bar backwards at lockout when completing a bench press, you have to place the bar on the rack, because the stands arent that heavy or stable.

These feel very sturdy for independent squat stands. Assembly was easy. I wish the bar catch wasn't metal to prevent scratching my the grip on my bar. I rigged it up with an old towel and a few zip ties, which has worked well.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Can these stands be used for bench press and squats with standard Olympic bar if maximum weight of 225?

Yes, as you can both bench and squat with the BD-8. And as the max weight load of the stands is 350 lb, you can definitely use a bar that has a maximum of 225 but make sure to abide by the weight load of your bar since it is lower.

  • Can the safety catches be used for light bench presses (150 to 200 lbs).

Yes - the BD-8 can be used for bench press with a maximum weight load of 350 lb but we do not recommend dropping the weight directly onto the safety catches.

  • Could I use these stands to safely perform squats with a 6 foot long standard barbell? I am wondering if there will be enough distance between the stands for my feet as I back away from the stands.

Thanks for your question! Yes, these can be used with a 6ft barbell with enough space between the feet to safely step in and out from the stands.

  • does these squat stands fit a 2inch axel bar?

Thanks for your question! Yes, the BD-8 will accommodate 2" axel bars.

  • How long are the safety arms?

The Safety Catches extends 6.5". Below is the measurement taken to give you a visual. Hope that help!
