Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • What’s the hole size?

The hole size on BD-18 uprights are 1" in diameter

  • Can these stands be separated individually for storage and reconnected for use?

Yes, these stands can be separated. You would simply adjust the pins and remove the connector frame, and you should have two individual stands.

  • is there any solution that allows me to put a pull up bar on this?

We do NOT have any viable options adding a pull up bar on this specific unit.

  • Can I do decline bench press on this?

This product is able to accommodate for decline bench press exercise. However, it does NOT come with a bench with the purchase. You will need a decline-appropriate bench. Our Adjustable FID Weight Bench is a good option if you are in the market for an adjustable bench.

Aside from that, the safety catches are adjustable and we would recommend adjusting them to the proper height that fits your needs before doing so.

  • What’s the difference between the BD-15 and the BD-18 and can the BD-18 be used without the center bar to make the independent?

If you are comparing the BE-15 and the BD-18, there are plenty of differences. The BE-15 does have a lot more features than the BD-18, such as an adjusting mechanism, removable bench, j-cups with rollers, and more. This is one of our heavy-duty set up, so it's a lot more durable than the BD-18 in terms of intense work out and exercises.

The BD-18 can be used without the center bar, however is not recommended for stability purposes. They are intended to be fixed onto one another. If you are looking for independent bench/squat stands, we do have those available as well. Please click here to explore other options.

  • Are the bench press safety catches the same length as on the bd-2? I currently have the bd-2 stands, but I am looking to upgrade to include squat capability. I like the bd-18, but I want to make sure the bench press safety is the same.

The bench safety catches are measured at different lengths. The safety catch for the BD-2 has a length of 10", whereas the BD-18's safety catch has a length of 12".  So there is a 2" difference in the safety cathces. Please view the photo below to see the differences. The BD-2 is primarily constructed primarily for benching exercises, and the BD-18 is constructed for both bench and squat exercises. Depending on your preference, it should do the job well in both regards. Hope that helps!

  • What dip attachments can be added to this rack?

The BD-18 does already come with a dual-intended bar catch and dip handle. You can adjust the horizontal width of the BD-18 itself to match the distance to meet your desired preference while perfoming the dip exercise. At the moment, we do not have any additional dip attachments available for this specific model.

  • What kind of pins can I buy to put in the hole of the J-cups and safety bars that can help secure them?

We use M16 Spring Loaded Popper Pins. Those would allow you to adjust and securely lock in the J-cups and the safety bars at your desired height. You can reach out to our Spare Parts department and they can help you in purchasing those.

  • What size of J cups can fit on this stand. In other words what are the size of the uprights.

The uprights are 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" and the holes are 1" in diameter.

  • How much does each stand weigh?

Each BD-18 stand weighs roughly 55 lbs and when connected they weigh approximately 115 lbs.

Super high quality for the $$

I'm way way impressed with the quality and build and sturdiness overall. I've sent back two stands already to Amazon and decided I'm just going to go up a step. These are perfect for my garage workout area not too heavy that you can't move it.. and able to be stacked and stored out of the way... For the weights for my wife and I use this is perfect for us and it feels great and secure I feel for the quality that we're getting with this item you'd have to pay at least $1,000 or more and a full stationary rig

This item is awesome and you should order it while you can since it is going away soon

This item is awesome and you should order it while you can since it is going away soon. I do not for the life of me understand why this is being discontinued since there is nothing like it anywhere and it is so versatile. If it is not a good seller why not make it special order?

I am lazy and do not want downtime moving stuff around and connecting and disconnecting equipment in my small shed gym so this was perfect for me since its adjustable in width and very sturdy. Out of the box assembly was quick and easy (20 minutes half of which was getting everything unwrapped). I put it together by myself with no issues at all.

It is very sturdy, easy to adjust the width and it opens up so many options for a gym. I can bench, squat and deadlift in it (with a longer barbell) and still have my two attachments secured to the posts. I attached a Y shaped dip attachment to one end because I already had it and prefer it over other style dip attachments. On the other end I attached a lateral raise attachment. Other uses could be a chest supported row attachment or perhaps lever arms. Others may prefer it closer together in width and it gives you that flexibility to adapt to whatever your gym setup is.

I cannot say enough good things about this product The two knobs to secure it work well and are easy to use. The spotter arms and j cups are good quality. It arrived quickly in two boxes and came mostly assembled.

If one thing was to be improved on this I would say the weight horns should be removable so you can place them wherever you want on the rack but this is not a must since you can buy other weight horns to attach if needed.

Turned Unit Around -

only have a 7 X 11 foot 2nd floor patio to workout in with as screen wall that the weight plate holders were pointed at. I spun around each stand to face the plate storage pins forward, and easily swapped the Number Labels around...
EXCELLENT ITEM , easily modified !

When you put the rubber footings on the stands become uneven on certain areas. That problem could be solved by storing plates on the plate holders. However you are also trying to store the stands together, so that isn’t really convenient. Some of the welds are uneven. I solved that problem by switching the spotter arms to opposite sides. My bars knurling chipped away paint on the J-cups. Aside from the flaws it is a great product for the price.

Love the width adjustability of this rack. I have a small space so I can't have a normal length barbell. Also have low ceilings. This is perfect. I am so glad I bought it and the quality is nice too.

I bought these stands because of their combination of (1) having the stability of a single unit, with the connecting bar, and (2) being horizontally adjustable.  The barbell that I currently use is not Olympic-sized, so being able to make the stands more narrow than standard bench stands was essential. I've owned them for 2 or so months now.

I've seen similar stands on the market, but a virtue of the BD-18 is just how adjustable it is.  Not only can it be made wider and narrower, but both the bar and safety catches adjust vertically.  Similar stands by other companies don't necessarily permit you to adjust the safety catches.  That is a serious limitation.

The dip handles are a nice feature.

I am using relatively light weight with these stands, but I can appreciate how their capacity goes to 600 lbs.  The entire frame is solid through and through.

My only, minor, gripe:  the assembly instructions call for a socket wrench.  I spent some time trying to track one down before I realized that it was completely unnecessary.  A normal wrench worked fine.
