Hi! I read the brief description of the counter balance cables, but I am having difficulty understanding the explanation. What does it mean it offsets the weight of the bar, and why would that even be an option? The BE-11 Smith machine description has the bar weighing at 36 lbs., though the standard weight of a bar is 45 lbs.
The BE-11CB Counter Balance Cables are designed to offset the weight of the bar, meaning it will zero out the weight of the bar in case you would like more assistance. The counter weights (weighing 18 lb each) will counteract the weight of the bar on the BE-11 Smith Machine which is 36 lb. Some users prefer to use the machine without the added weight of the bar. A Smith Machine is different than the common Olympic Barbell, so it does not weigh the same.
