Excellent rack! The small footprint makes it ideal for tight spaces. Add the plates, a bench, and Olympic bar, and a curl bar, and you’re all set. Never be at the mercy of a closed gym again!

After owning this rack for a couple of months, I couldn't be happier with the purchase. For the amount of features included and overall functionality, I don't think there is a better option on the market at this price point.

I really like knurling on the multi-grip pull-up bar -- it certainly provides an adequate grip without tearing up your hands too much. I also love the fact that the height is adjustable for the pull-up bar; I live in a place with average ceiling (sorry I don't have an exact measurement for ya) heights and being able to bring it down a little so my head can fit between the bar and the ceiling is perfect.

As other reviewers have mentioned, I do think there are some features that could be improved: The j-cups don't have plastic all the way around, and in fact my barbell tends to drop into a gap near the front. I also think the edges of the metal on the included barbell storage are a bit too sharp (without much force they've put several nicks into the finish on my bar). The edges on the safety spotters are also unnecessarily sharp (not a problem for me, but I did notice it here too). If possible, you should try to improve these things on the production end!

Overall though, this is an incredible rack. Very sturdy and fun to use! And even though I mentioned a few things that could be improved, I still give this a 5 star review because of the incredible value.

And yes, the customer service was incredible for me too. THANK you, Valor Fitness!!

Like many of us strength training aficionados who were scrambling to find some Garage Gym equipment this past fall, I stumbled upon Valor Fitness and they literally had only 2 of the BD58 Racks in stock. After reading all the reviews, looking at the specs, and the high-quality build, I jumped on it and made the buy (My wife didn't know) Needless to say, it's been 2 months and many workouts on this rack. I couldn't be happier. One of the best features is the adjustable height of the pull-up bar, which also has a knurled grip and multiple hand positions. That flexibility makes it a perfect fit for most garages with lower heights on the ceiling. The heavy-gauge steel, the weight capacity for more advanced/heavy lifters, and the option to screw down the base make this a versatile and ultimately a prime choice for home gyms. I highly recommend the BD-58 Halfrack and even more specifically Valor Fitness. They ACTUALLY ANSWER their phone and don't put you through a call tree if you have any questions, need a stock update, or have a problem with your order. I've become a fan.

This rack is sturdy. The resistance band pegs are a really nice extra touch. The multi-positioned pull up bar is a great addition and it actually goes high enough that I can’t do a fully extended pull up without being on the ground

I’ve had my Valor half rack for 3 weeks now and couldn’t be happier (bought with needle bar, bench, band sets and BBPs to kit out home gym). It took about 3hrs to put together by myself, instructions were straight forward, the rack is at least equal quality to the ones at commercial gyms. I like the pin system for bands and having bar storage hooks. The pull up bar with multiple hand positions is great and the rack is very stable.
Only additions/changes are; I’d love the safety pin holes to go a little lower down, too high for some band attachment exercises and floor pressing. Also the bar storages holders are mental with no covers so scratch up the bar - some plastic covering like on the J cups would be a nice addition. Finally 3 plate storages on each side is good, but 4 would be great!

This rack is the perfect choice for to get a good work out in at home with commercial gym grade equipment. the pullup bar doesn't wobble around like other options out there. The safety arms are solid so you can lift heavy with confidence. My boxes were in pretty good shape considering the weight of the contents, inside the box everything was in great shape no scratches or bent pieces to speak of. The build was pretty easy as well, a simple socket set will do the trick, be careful though, there are no torque recommendations in the instructions and if you go with what the bolts can materially handle you will bend metal on the frame.

Overall extremely happy with the rack, would totally recommend to a friend.

This half rack is sturdy, easy to assemble, and a really good choice.

On top of the rack itself, I *cannot reccomend Valor's customer support enough.* There aren't enough positive words.

In the middle of an actual global pandemic and a historic rush on exercise equipment combined with a collapse of supply chains everywhere, two Valor employees not only answered the phone and their email but took time and spent money to help a small consumer customer on the opppsite side of the country get the rack built right. I wasn't buying in bulk, I wasn't kitting out a big gym, I was just some guy building a place to lift in his garage. Didn't matter at all. I have rarely felt as supported by a company before - thank you Evan and thank you Jacob and thank you Valor.

If you read this far: UPS managed to mangle one of the boxes the rack shipped in to the point one of the main risers was bent. Impressive really, those things are big and strong. Valor took a quick look at a photo and shipped a replacement part which arrived in mere days.

As I put the rack together, it turned out one of the rear risers was also wrong... another email and !bang! replacement part on my doorstep.

This rack is good. The company is better. The people that work there are the best.

After researching several half racks, I decided on this one due to its height, multi-grip pull up bar, bumper plate storage, longer safety arms, and price point. Great build quality, pretty easy to put together (took about two hours by myself), and very sturdy.

On two recommendations I would make to have this be an even better product:

1. The j-cups have three separate hard plastic inserts but with a noticeable gap. I have a 28mm bar and it tends to go in between the gaps. When I rotate the bar before a lift I feel as if it is wearing the knurl in that area. Maybe having less of a gap or a molding that fits the entirety of the j-cups would be better.

2. The bar holders are a bit sharp, so I am a little uncomfortable having Valor's Swiss multi-grip bar hung there as it digs into the steel a bit. Maybe having a plastic lining or rounding the edges would help there.

Other than that, it's a quality product and I have enjoyed my workouts with it. I wanted a half rack for a better range of workouts. This one fits the majority of needs with space I had. Highly recommend.

I was looking around for a home gym rack just after the pandemic occurred and stumbled on this one while browsing Amazon. It was the only Rack that had ALL positive reviews. It sold out the day I tried to get it and had spend an extra 2-3 months kicking myself for not getting it earlier until it got back in stock on the company store:

Pros:
- It's built solid
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Dimensions fit the needs of a relatively tall guy (6' 1")
- Comfortable to fit in a medium Apt.

Cons:
- Some of the parts came with light cosmetic damage
- It wobbles ever so slightly when given a side to side motion like jumping onto the pull-up grips unevenly, but not enough to really matter. (It might be an issue for some, I dunno)
- The only thing that actually kind of bothers me is that one of the 23" long safety bars is ever so slightly bent at the attachment end, making the safety bar not perfectly align with the leg of the rack. This might've gotten damaged in the shipping, or maybe I just got unlucky. Again, this isn't enough to REALLY detract from the workout or safety in any meaningful way, it just kinda tears at my ocd for being slightly misshapen.

Final Thoughts:
If I had gotten an unblemished version of this rack and maybe bolted it into the floor of a concrete garage or something similar, I can't think of anything more I could ask from a piece of gym equipment. For the money, it's the best that I've seen anywhere on the internet, and I've had 2-3 months of waiting to look.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Is a sample available.of the bamboo on the weightlifting platform?

We do have the platforms and equipment available at our retail store locations to look at and test. If you are local to the Lakeland/ Semionle area of Florida you can see the platforms at our retail store locations.

  • What is the bar height at the tallest j-hook position?

The bar height at the highest j-hook position is 62"

  • Would you be able to use a landmine attachment with this model? If yes, do you sell that attachment?

Unfortunetly we don't have a landmine compatible with the BD-58.

  • Does the bd-58 have dip bar attachment

Thanks for your question! The RG-17 Dip Attachment can be added to the BD-58.

  • What attachments can I use with this rack?

Thanks for your question! The BD-58 is a complete unit where you can perform squats, bench press, pull-ups with different grips, while also storing your barbell and plates so there are not many attachments necessary. However, there are a few Valor Fitness attachments/accessories for this unit.

The RG-14 Plate Storage Attachment is one of them, although this is likely not necessary due to the 6 storage pegs that are already featured on the BD-58.

The RG-17 Dip Attachment can be added to the BD-58, you may just have to remove one of the Safety Spotter Arms to attach it in the front of the rack, or have it on the inside of the rack.

The last accessory for the BD-58 is the PTFM-58 Weightlifting Platform that easily fits inside the frame of the rack. The BD-58BPF is the bundle version of this rack that includes the platform. However, the PTFM-58 can currently be purchased separately on its own as well and will function just as it would if it were in the bundle.

  • what are the hole sizes on this rig? 1 inch? 5/8 inches?

The BD-58 has two size holes: The larger of the two holes is for accessory attachments which is a 1” diameter hole.

The other sized hole is for nuts and bolts to adjust the chin up bar height. These holes are ½” in diameter.

Keep in mind the frame size is 3” x 3” in size, so any accessory attachment needs to have a 3” x 3” mouth while using a 1” diameter insert peg.

Please feel free to call our customer service at 727-895-9525 if you need further explanation.

  • Is this compatible with any lat pulldown attachments?

We don't have a Lat Pulldown Attachment compatible with the Half Rack at this time. However, we do have Cable Pulley System (SKU: RG-26) that will work in combination with the Half Rack.

  • What gauge steel is the 3x3 half rack?

The 3x3 Half Rack is constructed from 6-gauge steel.
